A roll-off dumpster is the open-top steel container that arrives on a flatbed truck, gets tilted off onto the spot you point to, and stays there until you’re done filling it. DMC Dumpster Rental Simpsonville has run these across the Golden Strip and the wider Upstate since 2018, working out of 201 Greer Dr — a driveway cleanout in Mauldin, a roofing tear-off in Fountain Inn, and a full jobsite in Greer all move through the same five container sizes, 10 through 40 yard.
The whole idea behind a roll-off is that you stop loading a truck bed over and over for repeat runs to the landfill. Everything goes into one box that sits on-site for as long as the project takes, then leaves in a single haul. We don’t publish prices online — every job gets a flat rate quoted over the phone once we know the size and what’s going in it, so call (864) 432-6521 and we’ll walk you through it.

What a Roll-Off Container Actually Is
“Roll-off” describes how the container gets set down — the truck bed tilts and the box rolls off onto the ground, then gets winched back on the same way when it’s time to go. It’s a different tool than a front-load commercial dumpster that sits on a fixed weekly pickup schedule for ongoing trash service; a roll-off is a one-time project container that comes and goes with your job. If what you actually need is recurring service for a business, see our commercial dumpster rental page instead.
Sizing the Right Container
Size comes down to how much debris the job will generate, not how big the box looks on the truck. A single room or small cleanout usually fits a 10 yard. A bathroom remodel or moderate garage purge tends to land on a 15 yard. Most whole-house cleanouts and kitchen remodels call for our most-booked size, the 20 yard. Whole-house renovations and larger estate cleanouts usually need a 30 yard, and major demolition or new-construction debris is best matched to our largest box, the 40 yard. Our size guide covers this in more depth, or just call (864) 432-6521 and describe the project.
Placement & Permits Across the Golden Strip
A container that sits entirely on private property — your driveway, yard, or a gravel jobsite pad — needs no permit anywhere in our service area, and that covers most of what we deliver. Permitting only comes up when there’s no room on the lot and the box has to sit in a public street, and where that street sits changes who you talk to. Inside Simpsonville city limits, street placement requires a City of Simpsonville Public Works Street Cut Permit, a flat $500 fee. Mauldin, Fountain Inn, Greer, Greenville, Gray Court, Laurens, Williamston, and Belton each run their own separate city permit process — Simpsonville’s fee doesn’t carry over, so we always tell customers to check with that city directly. On unincorporated land, county authority takes over instead: Greenville County Building Safety & Codes Compliance, Anderson County Building & Codes Department, or Spartanburg County Building Codes Department, depending on which county the address sits in. If a state highway right-of-way is involved rather than an ordinary city street, that’s SCDOT’s call, not the city’s. See our Simpsonville dumpster permit guide for the full breakdown by town.
What Goes In, What Doesn’t
General household debris, old furniture, flooring, drywall, cabinetry, roofing shingles, and construction material are all fair game in a roll-off. A few categories are banned outright under South Carolina law and can’t go in with the rest: whole tires (S.C. Code § 44-96-170, along with a $2 per-tire fee at sale or disposal — take them to a registered tire retailer instead), lead-acid batteries (§ 44-96-180 — a battery retailer or recycler handles those), and major appliances, or “white goods” — refrigerators, washers, dryers, water heaters (§ 44-96-200). South Carolina also runs a statewide landfill ban on electronics and TVs that’s been in effect since July 2011, so those need to be kept out of the box too. Asbestos is never permitted in any container, any size, full stop — that always requires a licensed abatement contractor. Paint, fuel, motor oil, other chemicals, and medical waste are standard prohibited items as well. If you’re unsure whether something belongs, see our what can go in a dumpster guide, or just call and ask.
How Booking Works
Call (864) 432-6521 and tell us what the project is — a cleanout, a remodel, a roofing job, new construction, or a demolition — and roughly how much debris you’re expecting. We’ll recommend a size, quote a flat rate on the spot, and set a delivery window inside our Monday–Saturday, 7am–7pm hours. If your timeline is tighter than that, ask about getting a container out the same day — see our same-day dumpster rental page for what’s realistic.

FAQs
Roll-Off Dumpster Rental questions, answered
What’s the difference between a roll-off dumpster and regular trash service?
A roll-off is a container delivered to your site for the length of a project and picked up when you’re done — the kind used for cleanouts, remodels, and construction debris. Regular curbside or commercial trash service runs on a fixed recurring pickup schedule instead. If you need ongoing service rather than a one-time project container, see our commercial dumpster rental page.
What size roll-off dumpster do I need?
It depends on the project. A single room or small job usually fits a 10 or 15 yard; a whole-house cleanout or kitchen remodel typically needs a 20 yard; whole-house renovations and estate cleanouts often call for a 30 yard; and major demolition or new-construction debris is best matched to a 40 yard. Call (864) 432-6521 and we’ll help you size it correctly.
Do I need a permit for a roll-off dumpster in Simpsonville?
Not if it sits entirely on private property — that covers most rentals. If it has to sit in a Simpsonville street instead, the City requires a Public Works Street Cut Permit for a flat $500 fee. Other towns in our service area, and unincorporated county land, each run their own separate process — see our permit guide for details.
How much does a roll-off dumpster rental cost?
We quote a flat rate over the phone based on the size and type of project, so you know the cost before you book — nothing is published online. Call (864) 432-6521 for a quote, or see our cost guide for what factors into the price.
How long can I keep the dumpster?
We work with your project timeline rather than forcing a fixed rental window. Tell us roughly how long the job will run when you book and we’ll set expectations up front.
What can’t go in a roll-off dumpster?
Whole tires, lead-acid batteries, major appliances (“white goods”), and electronics are all barred from South Carolina landfills under state law and can’t go in the box. Asbestos, paint, fuel, motor oil, other chemicals, and medical waste are also prohibited. See our what can go in a dumpster guide for the full list.
Do you deliver the same day I call?
Often, yes, if you call early enough in the day and a truck is free on your route. Otherwise we’ll get you scheduled for the next available slot within our Monday–Saturday, 7am–7pm hours.
